NCC and the Security of Nigerians!

The World of IT is moving on leaps and bounds beyond the wildest imagination of the users.  While some of us are very appreciative of the onerous contributions of the NCC regulatory activities, some are made to wonder if:-

1. it is enough;

2.  the relevance meets the exigencies of the advancing techies;

3. They will be able to meet the needs of hour and hours to come.

Nigeria is a place where anybody can connect to the internet through many than one or more  illegit ways and the Government agency does not have any control and waits for complaints from those who feel cheated.

The issues of gsm providers, cheating on subscribers and removing collasal amounts of monies without the subscribers having any way to stop it, is one of the IT leaks than must be curtailed.  N100 in 10M places is N1B.  Thanks to cry of power and infrastructure.  The constant audit of softwares and it activites might be impossibile without infringing on the privacy of subscribers;  But who has got privacy? when for the right price, people can get the Presidents most private conversations?   Am sure Hon. Lawal was not mentored by the security support of the National Assembly during their Orientation, that is to say there was one.

Suffice to say the European – American saga of Snowdens snitches should be enough to get any sensible Security Agency on both alert and work to safeguard the citizenry and the leadership as today, time and information is what keeps the world moving.

One night a bomb blast occured in Bauchi and calls were coming in from Washington to confirm, when even we who where in bauchi were not aware and the news channels were all dead to the news, till the usual twitter and facebook social media got spreading it before, a Min of Information, person came out next day to confirm.  The dead and are gone and if we will be managing damages, we will not get anywhere.  Where are the USA and UK Embassies getting the information to caution their people from certain areas?  Why cant we do close to the same?  Why must we wait till it happens and then come with all sorts of friegthening paraphanelias and scare people, alarming them than reduce the trauma.

And very surprise with all the Universities and graduates of Psychology, we are still waiting to see these set of professionals reach out to students and people, through radio, TV and direct contact to keep faith alive and have people live above the insensible trauma, of the thought of where next.  It is not easy to go to schools any more.  Check Chruches in especially the North East, the attendance have fallen below the marginal low and we are all watching and waiting for the Government to bring NEMA always after the act has been done.  Even in Abuja, I wanted some friends to take me out for some good Expressor Coffee, in either GrandSquare or Essentials Stores and they all said NO, those are the bomb spots.  Who wil want to have a multi – Billion Naira business and lack of peace cripples every thing?

While we are praying to God for help, We will appreciate some more actions, that will increase the confidence of the citizenry and get any formentors of trouble from any part of our land know that the Law of the Land is able to keep it’s citizenry safe.
